My blog started out as purely beauty. My final project at University was creating a beauty magazine from scratch and I'd willingly spend more than I should on the US imported Allure magazine to get a real beauty hit. Basically, beauty is still peak excitement for me. A mass beauty haul gets me so excited to play with everything - whether it's something daring (not often) or a replacement everyday product to try, it's my thing.
Saying all that, I seem to have lost it all recently. Very rarely buying new stuff or trying out a new technique which I used to perfect in my evenings. I could easily while away hours in Boots - or more excitedly the beauty aisles of Target or Sephora - but rarely share the excitement with anyone else.
I moved away from a sole beauty blog as I realised I definitely wasn't the authority on beauty. I know who my go-tos are for that (and they have been for years). I still love sharing the odd beauty bit here and there, but beauty seems to have sunk into a niche audience instead of the seemingly masses that were there when I first started blogging.
I recently committed to a mass purchase from Feel Unique that swung me back into that beauty excitement and had me ready to share every individual purchase with anyone I could. While my blog isn't going to become dominated by beauty or packed full of one product reviews, I'm definitely going to throw more of my time into the beauty world again.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, blogging about things I genuinely enjoy is what feels good for me. So with that in mind, it's only right that beauty stuff should get a bigger placement here on North of London. The products I'm genuinely excited for, those that don't get enough online air time and those that I want to shout about but don't have the right real-life audience to do to.
Welcome back to North of London beauty fans, I'm hoping there's still a few of the originals left around!
