The best burgers in Leeds

Got dinner plans? Here's your essential guide on where to get your burger fix from the best. *EDIT* Now up to date with the newest yummies of 2019.

I've munched my way through quite a few restaurants in Leeds over the past couple of years and with burgers on everyone's minds today, I thought it fitting to round-up the best burgers in Leeds.

In no particular order ~except this first one~ here are the Leeds ultimate burger joints...

Slap & Pickles
Newly set-up in Assembly is what I'm heralding as the best burgers in Leeds. Choose from one to four patties, topped with cheese or not, always slathered in their house mix of sauces and sprinkled with pickles. I have no doubt you will love every, single, bite. Every item can also be made veggie or vegan, racking up the Slap & Pickles bonus points. If you're skipping the burgers for whatever reason, definitely tried the Big Mick Fries - essentially a deconstructed S&P burger topping a tray of chips - divine.

Patty Smith's
Quite the Leeds heritage, if you're a burger fan in Leeds who hasn't tried them, where have you been? They will no doubt be popping up at the nearest food fair in the city, or beer fuelled event from the local indies, but their mainstay is Belgrave for full time access. So super juicy and with some inspired relishes between the buns. Whatever topping you choose, it will always be peak fresh which is why they get my vote.

Almost Famous
So, they're based in more than just Leeds, but that doesn't stop them getting a worthwhile feature in my Leeds burger line-up. Another outlet that will have more than enough gimmicky options to work through if that's your style, but again, the basis is perfect. My favourite has been the Down & Out (in Beverly Hills) burger of recent, but don't neglect their fries menu - this would 100% feature in a fries round-up on North of London.

The Fat Hippo
And as a final sign-off, an honorary Leeds burger comes in from Fat Hippo, Newcastle. They've featured at Trinity Kitchen and also won the Leeds leg of Battle of the Burger, surely that sells them enough? I'm hoping they'll be coming this way south in the near future. Possibly one of my favourite burger joints in the country and being based in Newcastle, it holds a special place in my heart.

There it is, the best ways you should be celebrating National Burger Day in Leeds (or Newcastle) this year. Any more I should be considering for my top picks? If you need me, I'll be delving between the buns somewhere...!
