I've ventured out of the big city. Leeds regulars, don't panic - Bingley is 20 minutes out and well worth the trip for this cute find. The Potting Shed looks like any other unassuming pub from the outside, but step in to explore and you're in for a treat.
Make your way past the main bar and head upstairs to The Gin Terrace - particularly if the sun has got his hat on. A fully opened out terrace, or sides and roof closed over for that brilliant Northern weather, currently playing host to a gin themed pop-up.
Cocktail fans will feel well at home with all the options available, take your cocktail in a tea cup or opt for the rum option and get your service from a Sailor Jerry can. These are just a couple of the cute touches adding to The Potting Shed Experience.
We were treated to what can only be described as a smorgasbord of the new menu, with the man behind it all dining with us. On the menu, some typical pub fare; loaded nachos (top marks from me, particularly with the added pulled pork), chicken goujons, burgers, pizza... As well as twists on the classics, a Yorkshire pudding burger bun for example. Basically, it's carb filled comfort food done well. All of it tasted really fresh, particularly the goujons and mini cheese cups, two of my menu highlights.
I dipped into the Oreo pud, but by this point I was well into a carb coma, so it wasn't going to get my full attention. I'm way more focused on the savoury mains anyway - but if you're into your desserts then you'll be satisfied by this.
Before we jumped back on the Leeds train, we took a look around the namesake of the bar. The garden terrace below is lined with a rainbow of potting sheds (I'm still getting over how cute these are), installed with the ideal dining setting for a cute retreat in the sun, or a cosy close-in for the Winter. I can't wait to head back to get cosy in one - and guys, there is a gargantuan tele above them so you can soak up all the unmissable sports action you like.
