The cobbles off Call Lane have a new venue to explore. Follow the string of lights off the main strip and see the welcome of Red Door. The namesake doors are flung open, ready for their visitors to explore the newest cocktail bar in Leeds.
Spread over two floors, the new place for cocktails in Leeds serves up the classics with a twist and some brand new styles that I'll definitely be heading back for.
If you're a regular to Hirst's Yard, you'll have previously known the venue as 51 Bourbon. The old whisky bar has relocated to the bottom of Call Lane to make way for a new cocktail menu and some great interior touches - feeling thirsty? Let's talk through some of the options.
Most of the menu is by the glass - or disco ball, or Cointreau bottle - but there are a couple of bigger sharer options as well. A step away from the usual fishbowl, how about a zombie sharer instead?
Tropical and light, super sweet but very easy drinking. Perfect for 2-3 to share to start your night.
My favourite of the night our initial initiation into the bar, the Maya Blossom. A completely unique flavour but a must try - a sweet taste of what was to come, with a deliciously creamy foam to top it.
Second to that had to be the Red Door twist on a French martini, a sweet Chambord cocktail powdered with the tastiest foam topping which reminded me of a raspberry macaron.
I don't think there are any options on the menu that won't get you some serious Instagram points - which is obviously a key factor of any choice of bar to go to - their candyfloss cocktail is one of the funnest. A glittering prosecco poured over a glass full of floss. Definitely not the best in flavour but a must for the experiential.
There are of course plenty more to work through, all a little bit more unique than what's come before, but the classics are just an ask away if you fancy your fail safe.
Make time to check out the upstairs to get a real feel for the bar, this could be the next go-to for your Saturday night.
