We've had the time to mourn the loss of the Ox Club brunch - while it was once up there with my favourites, there was no doubt there'd be something to take its place from the same team. The next chapter for the menu - Sunday lunch, Ox Club style.
If you've dined on the evening service, expect a similar style of eats at lunchtime. Traditional roast trimmings, different meat, fish or veggie options, as well as some outstanding side dishes.
Filling up the menu are some luxury ingredients at a very reasonable price; mains are a max of £15.95 each (that's a roast with all the trimmings), with starters ranging from £6-£9. You can find the sample menu on the website, all subject to change depending on the seasonal ingredients available.
To start, I couldn't resist the venison tartare. Melt in the mouth meat with hidden bursts of red current dotted throughout and a generous garnish of crushed hazelnut.
For mains, roast beef rump cap for him, perfectly pink and served with next level delicious bone marrow gravy. The meat mains each come with a Yorkshire pud, roast carrots, richly tasty pomme anna and cabbage.
And the vegetarian option; roast squash with a pearl barley & vegan haggis risotto, a veggie dish absolutely nailed with just the right quantities of each part of the meal. For the sides, the highlight was the cauliflower and romesco, served alongside roast carrots and crispy roast potatoes.
One of the very best roast dinners in Leeds that I've ever had, paired with the usual excellent service that's to be expected. You might not always get the same menu set-up each time (get the latest info on their Instagram) but I have no doubt that your tastebuds will be rewarded with whatever is fresh from the kitchen.
The Ox Club Sunday lunch is served every Sunday from 12pm - 5pm, I would highly recommend booking in as I'm yet to see their weekend sittings with an empty table. You can thank me for the recommendation later.
