The Rum Shack | Leeds Pop-Up

Written about Bars
5th July 2015

Sandwiched between favourites Belgrave & Sandanista at the top of Leeds, welcome to the newest pop-up bar from the Hedonist Project. Enter, Rum Shack, where the name is going to tell you all you need to know (but I'll offer you a little more).

Edged with deck chairs and barrels to rest your punch on, entering the Rum Shack gives an authentic feel to an off the beaten track bar you'd find in Jamaica. Street side with the locals and their long-standing, favourite drinks.

The Rum Shack will be in residence until the first week of September, open seven days a week to serve the freshest rum cocktails, hand shaken in the shack. This, all brought to you by The Hedonist Project, offering a rotation of pop-ups to keep interest fresh and appeal high.
On offer, you'll find Caribbean staples - my favourite being the classic Reggae Rum Punch we got to enjoy on the night.

With the Great British Summer being in its element, the shack is a great stop to finish off your day. I loved being able to sit outside and chill out for the evening, punch in hand of course.
Or, to get a taste of the atmosphere, head inside for the unfinished charm of the place. Expect mismatched paint, photos and painting slung around the room and the bar propped up with authentic looking wood slats, topped with a shack of a roof. Ideal.

Given the shack namesake, expect number to rack up inside. Get down early to get the best seats (I'm talking the bench outside, or the deck chairs if you won't get too comfy in them...
Or, wait for it to get packed and get a much more authentic feel for the undiscovered delights of a Jamaican bar, in Leeds city centre!
